    If There's A Hell Below...

    If There's A Hell Below...

Buddhism technically is a philosophy, but like most religions it has some very graphic depictions of the afterlife, especially when your life wasn’t spotlessly clean… Once you’ve kicked the bucket it all starts with your appearance in front of Phra-Yom, apparently he’s the God of Hell and Death… He will check his records in a huge book or on-screen and judge you accordingly to all your wicked ways. And then the fun starts… If you have been disrespectful against your parents,
    Temple Cats

    Temple Cats

As written in my previous post (*) Thailand’s temples usually have a fair amount of dogs. When locals are getting bored with their dog(s) or have too many puppies, these usually end up being ‘dumped’ at a nearby temple, sad but true. The same happens with cats/kittens but probably not in the same amounts as I see fewer felines compared to canines. A month or so ago I was cycling around and looking for a shortcut but instead ended up at a temple where I noticed a monk feeding
    Rubber Recycling

    Rubber Recycling

Rubber production is still big in Thailand, especially in the South there are still plenty of plantages cultivating rubber trees, but the prices have been falling over the years. Rubber tire recycling has become another aspect that has grown here, I remember when suddenly rubber garbage bins were very popular, but that didn’t last very long unfortunately as I don't see them that much anymore. Love Me Love My Dog?

Early morning, just after sunrise, it’s still cool and quiet, not much (if any) traffic on the road, cycling goes smoothly, a light breeze provides even more enjoyment. On moments like that, cycling becomes a kind of meditation, pedaling steadily, until… suddenly out of nowhere a 4-legged monstrosity comes racing after you, barking like mad and aiming for your feet/ankles! It’s a very rude disturbance of a previously incredibly peaceful bicycle trip… Barking dogs don’t bite i
Where The Streets Have No Name

Where The Streets Have No Name

In Hollands street signs are the same everywhere, whether it’s the Lindelaan, Nw. Loosdrechtsedijk, Nootweg in Loosdrecht, the Kalverstraat and Dubbeleworststeeg in Amsterdam, or the Merelstraat in Arnhem, the shape is identical. Bangkok Text too is usually rather basic, just the name and sometimes in bigger cities a location, e.g. West, Centrum (Centre). Khong Chiam If it concerns the name of an (in*)famous person, a little more info will be provided, e.g. Trompstraat M.H. T

    Here Comes The Rain Again

Due to Covid the monthly Bangkok Photographers Walks continue to be individual photoshoots and the topic for last month was #98 the "Art of Water". Luckily we had quite a few rainstorms! I submitted a few watery pictures but decided to keep most of the wet flowers and leaves for here :-) The results from the group can be found here: https://issuhub.com/view/index?id=38432 Artist's impression
