Walking along Nieuwendammerdijk (dyke)
Before returning to Thailand I had to visit Amsterdam, by now this has become a tradition. My friend Hendrik was waiting for me at Central Station. From there we took a ferry across to Amsterdam North. We walked to the Vogel Buurt (bird neighborhood) and admired some of the stately houses. To our surprise we found this derelict jugendstil GEB (Gemeente-Energiebedrijf = Municipal Energy Company) thingy. The 3 crosses refer to Amsterdam's coat of arms! Classic entrance unfortun

Exploring Utrecht Part 2
Many, many years ago whenever I went to Utrecht, it was usually only for records/CDs and books... Nowadays though I enjoy admiring various architectural styles of old buildings while wandering around. This 1912 house is a good example, look at all the brickwork, upper windows, balcony, etc.! Details of a so-called 'boom rooster' (tree grate?), together with the road bricks make for an interesting picture. Another alley. Renovated of course, but still beautiful this 1878 house

Exploring Utrecht Part 1
Earlier this week I took a train with an old friend to Utrecht, one of those classic Dutch cities with quite a bit of history. We hadn't made any real plans, except for wandering around a bit through the old town. Once outside the railway station, we ignored the mall and walked on. Part of the Mall reflected in the water. Pump It Up
Last month my brother Gert got a request from a bike shop owner for building a massive replica of the classic Jumbo bicycle pump from the 1960s (*). As he is always open to a challenge, he accepted this new job and began to make preparations. Of course, I wasn't there to take photos but he took quite a few during the construction process which you can see here: https://www.gertsatelier.nl/fiets-pomp May 28 was the official delivery day and luckily I'd arrived a few days befor

Bangkok Photographers Group Walk 102 Wang Mai - Rong Muang
On May 8 we met at the National Stadium and started off with 40+ photographers! Despite the relatively large group size these walks are enjoyable as everybody does it at her/his own pace. For most part we wandered around with only a few other photographers. In fact the last part, from the Centennial Park to Rama 4 Road, we didn't see anyone else! But as the end destination was quiet clear (coffee shop opposite Hualamphong), that didn't matter much. As usual I shot a mix of pe
