Train Wrecks & More (Part 2)
And here is the last part of the train station tour! As written in Part 1, we were entering a building with lots of historical, interesting items, which we were not allowed to touch under any circumstances... The ground floor looked pretty gloomy, to be honest. One of the side rooms on the 2nd floor contained lots of tools/equipment. And the main room turned out to be a kind of showroom! Showcasing lots of stuff covered in dust and dirt, this place really made me feel depress

Train Wrecks & More (Part 1)
After several failed attempts to get inside the old Makkasan Railway Depot (*) we finally succeeded... Although with a bit of a cheat, Tim & I signed up for an official tour of Hualamphong and Makkasan stations, the only way to get inside as the last one is not open to the public. Perhaps first I must make a confession, despite working for many years in tourism I'm not particularly keen on guided tours, experienced too many drone guides who can't stop talking... The tour star

A Walk In The Park
Earlier this month I had an opportunity to revisit Erawan National Park in Kanchanaburi. Thailand's 12th National Park was founded in 1975 and is very popular among local tourists as well. I was looking forward to this as Erawan is one of my favorite parks, not that difficult to hike up to the 7th tier, and plenty to see. Although the last time (pre-Covid) I was there, the sight of a large group of half-naked foreigners with boomboxes was quite shocking... For me, the sights,

Bangkok Photographers Group Walk 104 - part 3
Here is the final part of that walk with more cats, markets, old houses, street art, people, spirit houses, skylines, and a tiny island just off Sukhumvit! Bangkok Photographers Group Walk 104 - part 2
Here we continue the walk from the BTS Phrakanong station through alleys, past Yameul Islam Mosque, markets, toys, food, cats, and more. One more thing, I mentioned already that I do the editing (cropping really) on my mobile, but for this walk I looked at each pic on a large screen, which does make a difference. As before, no need for text. To be continued! Here are the group's photos: https://issuhub.com/view/index/209510?fbclid=IwAR0-LdG0PVMwbcquzE5Gkm3pk4mrVy1VC6OG7iOfE9e

Bangkok Photographers Group Walk 104 - part 1
Last month it was time again for a photo walk with the group, usually good fun and this time was no exception. Target was the Phrakanong area, off Sukhumvit, and with just 21 participants it went pretty smooth. When I submit my photos for the group's magazine I use photoshop and fiddle around a bit here and there. However for this blog, I only use Snapseed, with no filters, just the occasional crop, and the standard white frame. Some of these signs look pretty mysterious to m
