One Night In Bangkok

Last Friday night was fun thanks to my old friend Wilhelmus van N, who alerted me to a performance by the (in?)famous Midnight Ramblers, Thailand’s finest Rolling Stones cover band, whom we had seen in the past.

A few other bands were playing too; their names didn’t ring any bells, but we were happy to give them a try.

The show was scheduled to start at 8.30 pm, but we didn’t take that too seriously as we were having a few pre-show beers and snacks to get into the ‘right mood’…

A band was playing already when we arrived, kind of instrumental jazz-rock-fusion.

I asked the bartender the name of the band, but she had no idea…

A little later we found out that it was Cyren, an international Jam band, not bad at all!

After a short break and some beers, the next band was getting ready on stage: Aliens on Earth.

Within a very short time, it became obvious to us that those 3 Aliens did a great job as they played Molam-style fusion experimental music, a bit like Khruangbin and Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band.

The audience showed their appreciation as well and some of the ladies were going apeshit!

After midnight (no surprise) it was time for the Ramblers who gave a solid show with classics like Jumpin’ Jack Flash and Honky Tonk Women.

When Joe Cummings & Co finished their set, we had reached our beer limit as well, time to go home!

The highlight of the evening: Aliens on Earth
